“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”

[Stanford commencement speech, June 2005] – Steve Jobs

Many of us have heard and appreciate this quote from the late Steve Jobs. I couldn’t have said it better and it’s one of our core passions here at The Center for Good Work. Helping individuals, organizations and communities create Good Work. We believe that Good Work happens when your work is aligned with your authentic strengths, values and passions. Good Work happens when organizations are designed and aligned with powerful visions that make significant contributions to our world. Good Work happens when communities collaborate and contribute for the good of all.

So… how do you find your own Good Work?

  • You identify and practice observing your True Self – seeing your authentic strengths, values, passions and contributions.

  • You develop practices to shift from any patterns of weakness-focused or fear-based limitations that your mind, emotions or body may be holding.

  • You dream, listen deeply and creatively play with career & life designs.

  • You research and investigate design options.

  • You prioritize your design criteria.

  • You evaluate and decide to follow a powerful vision for your future.

  • You develop a plan to build this future.

The Center for Good Work is happy to announce its new coaching workbook, The Career & Life Design Sketchbook. Available June 15, 2012 with Career & Life Plan Coaching with our lead coach, Jody Thone.
